Powering responsible, sustainable growth

Decarbonisation is an important priority in our mission, both to us and our global customers. Our determination to meet the highest ESG standards (environmental, social and corporate governance) led us to develop our Sustainability Framework.

To deliver our vision of empowering responsible, sustainable growth, our Sustainability Framework focuses on three objectives

Caring for our planet

Our focus on care for our planet targets reduction or removal of carbon emissions, sustainable supply chain and positive efforts around biodiversity.

30% reduction in emissions by 2030

We are working with suppliers and partners to implement EV, carbon and gas capture installations across our operations to reduce emissions and carbon footprint

Sustainable supply chain

We are working with our key suppliers in Kazakhstan and beyond to ensure they embed and enforce sustainable practices throughout our supply chains, aiming to reduce carbon footprint and emissions.

Positive biodiversity

Across our major operating locations, we have initiatives underway to proactively maintain and positive enhance biodiversity, seeking to improve the natural environment in which we operate. We will also continue to partner with supplier and joint ventures to advocate for and influence positive collective action on biodiversity.

Caring for our people

Hampton is at heart a human enterprise. Working together and caring for each other is one of our core values. We are deeply proud of our people.

Welfare and wellbeing

Care for physical and mental health are core parts of our commitment. We continue to support several initiatives, including flexible work, wellness retreats, access to health and medical resources and specialist support.

Safety standards

0 injuries or incidents in 15 years of operating across Kazakhstan

Covid-19

Alongside maintaining strict protocols in line with government directives, over 2021-22 we have supported all employees, contractors and encouraged our communities to get vaccinated. In 2022, we continue to focus on pursuing positive pathways out of the pandemic.

Caring for community opportunity

We know we have a core role to play in the communities where our businesses operate.

Community care

Mining, refining and processing, by its industrial nature delivers significant economic benefits to surrounding communities, providing employment, tax revenue, small business development, and skills, capability and capacity building opportunities for the community.

It also affects the immediate, localised surrounding environment, and that is why we robustly and meaningfully engage with our communities to understand how mining activities impact them, and to maximise positive impact.

Community, social rights and standards

Throughout our Kazakhstan operations, throughout the lifecycle of our operations, we respect, uphold the highest standards in all internationally recognised human rights, in line with the UN UHR. We are also long-term advocates for these principles being robustly enshrined in businesses standards and governance across Kazakhstan
